Not on the Presumptive List?
How to Connect It Anyway
Is your condition missing from VA’s presumptive lists? You can still get service connection. A presumptive list is a shortcut, not the only way. Without it, you show the link yourself, usually with your service records and a doctor’s opinion that your condition is “at least as likely as not” caused by your service.
This page explains:
-
how to check every list first, since your condition may be on one you haven’t looked at
-
other ways to connect your condition, like direct, secondary, aggravation and a radiation dose review
-
the 3 things every claim needs
-
how to get a strong medical opinion and use medical research
-
when VA must give you an exam for toxic exposure under the PACT Act
-
what to do if VA says no
-
real-world examples by exposure, and links to official VA sources and the law
