Symptom Checker
Symptom Checker helps you find where your condition fits in VA’s rating schedule, even if it has no code of its own. Type the name your doctor used, or the code from your decision letter. Or pick where you feel it from 15 body areas, check your symptoms, and answer two quick questions: whether you have a diagnosis and where you served. Where you served covers the Gulf War area, burn pit areas, Agent Orange locations and Camp Lejeune.
For each symptom, you’ll see:
-
which page on our site to read
-
the diagnostic codes VA usually uses
-
how VA rates it
-
what happens if it isn’t listed by name
-
the evidence that helps
-
any presumptive rules that may apply to you
The results also show which symptoms can only be counted once, and your next steps. If your condition isn’t listed, VA must still rate it like the closest listed condition (38 CFR § 4.20). If something isn’t listed or you’re looking for something specific, email us at info@veteransclaimsedu.com and we’ll help you find information on it. This tool doesn’t diagnose you or decide a claim, and nothing you enter is saved. Veterans Claims Education provides free educational information only and does not assist with or file claims.
