VA Disability
Benefits Calculator
VA Disability Benefits Calculator: See Your Combined Rating the Way VA Does. VA doesn’t add ratings together, which is why 50% plus 30% equals 70%, not 80%. Enter each of your service-connected ratings, including secondary conditions and 0% ratings, and this free calculator shows your combined rating step by step: the bilateral factor for both arms, both legs or all four limbs, combining from highest to lowest, and rounding only once at the end. It even checks the 2023 bilateral rule, which requires VA to leave a paired rating out of the bilateral factor when that gives you a higher rating, and tells you which rating it left out. You’ll also see your monthly pay with a spouse, children (including children 18 to 23 in school) and dependent parents at current rates, and what one more rating would do to your total. Below the calculator, learn what counts toward your combined rating and what doesn’t (TDIU, SMC, temporary 100% ratings, dependents and allowances), the special rules that change the math (no rating the same symptoms twice, one mental health rating, the tinnitus limit, the amputation rule and more), why 100% is so hard to reach, and how to check the math on your own decision letter.
